Discover the Tuscan Mountains with an authentic guide
Luigi Lorenzoni views the mountains as an opportunity to forge deep, genuine connections with hikers. His aim is to share his passion for nature, making each excursion an unforgettable experience.
To achieve this, he offers walks and treks tailored to all types of participants.
- Easy Activities (F): suitable for all, including families and dog-friendly options. Try the Cansoli–Terrinca walk, exploring chestnut trees and their traditions, with an elevation gain of 400 metres.
- Hiking Activities (E): a minimum of experience is required. Highlights include the stunning Foliage loop around Monte Freddone with a 700m elevation gain, and the Southwest Ridge of Mont’Alto “Pizzichino,” with a 500m gain.
- Experienced Hikers (EE): suitable for those with mountain experience. Options include Sunset at Monte Altissimo, an evening hike with a 600m elevation gain, or the Apuan Weekend, which involves two days of hiking with a climb to the “Queen of the Apuan Alps,” Pania della Croce (1060m elevation gain) and an exploration of Monte Corchia from the Pirosetto Channel (elevation gain of 1250m or 585m).
- Experienced Hikers with Gear (EEA): via ferrata routes, such as a visit to the Bosco dei Folletti (Fatonero, descent through the Giant’s Kettle Channel, 550m elevation), or the Valle degli Alberghi with the via ferrata at Monte Contrario, organised in collaboration with Alpine Guides (1300m elevation gain).
In a world where time seems to move too fast, Luigi Lorenzoni invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and discover the beauty of mountain trails, creating memories that last a lifetime.
Training journey of a mountain professional
Luigi Lorenzoni obtained his Mid-Mountain Guide qualification in 2023 after more than a year of intensive training, a journey that required him to be away from his family. This involved over 660 hours of theoretical and practical training on mountain environments, cartography, navigation, wildlife, flora, and snow science, as well as covering 450 km with a total elevation gain of 22,000 metres.
A goal achieved with determination, enabling him today to create experiences in the Apuan Alps and surrounding areas where he connects with people in an empathetic way. His journey began much earlier, at birth, when he took his first steps and uncovered the secrets of the place he grew up in.
In 2012, he enrolled in a ‘Rock Course‘ with the Monte Forato School, where he trained with high-level rock and ice climbing instructors, some of whom were true pioneers of Apuan climbing routes.
From them, Luigi learned a great deal: beyond becoming a rock climber, he realised it was the right time to pursue his dream of becoming a Mid-Mountain Guide, ultimately earning his certification from the ‘College of Alpine Guides AMM Liguria‘.
Chat with Luigi Lorenzoni
“I was born in Arni, a small Alta Versilia village 1,000 metres above sea level, surrounded by the beautiful Apuan Alps, which I’ve known since childhood. “ This is how Luigi introduces himself, a straightforward, genuine person deeply connected to his family and roots.
“The Apuan Alps mean everything to me; they shape my daily life. I respect them deeply because they made me who I am. I have a deep love for my land, my roots, and my traditions, which I try to pass on to my children.” He tells us proudly.
“Through my work, I strive to protect this environment, always challenging myself, because I believe these mountains, a UNESCO Heritage Site, deserve to be known worldwide: breathtaking, beautiful, fascinating, magical, and just a stone’s throw from the sea. A truly unique place on Earth!”
But as Luigi reminds us during our conversation, “they must be respected and explored with safety and utmost care.”
