Accommodation and facilities
StarsBOX experience in Maremma and eco-chic rooms in Saturnia
At Fattoria La Maliosa, hospitality has two sides: there is the countryside adventure in the StarsBOX cabins and the comfort of the thermal village with the Saturnalia Village Rooms—eco-chic rooms in a 17th-century building 9 km from the farm, featuring a Wine Bar where you can sample wine, olive oil and traditional products.
StarsBOX: wooden cabins with a view of the starry sky
Four cabins scattered across the farm’s 170 hectares. The roof opens if you wish: unwind under the moonlight and enjoy the dawn light.
Each StarsBOX is set in a unique scenic spot to ensure total privacy. Two feature a private chemical toilet just a few metres away; the other two share brick-built bathrooms with a shower.
This is not classic glamping: it is a rustic experience designed for those seeking a true connection with Maremma’s nature. With so much open space at your disposal, you will truly feel like you are the only ones there.
Wild and exciting!
P.S. The “wild guests” are just crickets and a few harmless insects: a little adaptability is required. We are guests of nature, and we must remember that we are not in a movie or a glossy postcard 😉
Saturnalia Village Rooms: 5 eco-chic rooms in the village of Saturnia
In the heart of Saturnia, inside Dimora Ximenes—a 17th-century building beautifully restored with care and passion—there are five eco-chic rooms with king-size beds, air conditioning and ultimate comfort.
On the first floor, you will find a shared living room with a zero-km breakfast setup, a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable seating and a relaxation lounge.
Fresh water and coffee are always available.
The light colours, wooden furniture and chosen materials reflect the rich Maremma landscape, using local lime and sand.
You are just a 2-minute drive from the Terme libere di Saturnia hot springs.
From the main farm, however, you are a 9 km drive or e-bike ride away.
Saturnia Wine Bar: Maremma farm-to-table cuisine
The cuisine is simple and seasonal, crafted with locally sourced ingredients stretching from Argentario to Mount Amiata.
Take a look at our menu
Hand-rolled Tuscan MalPici pasta with caramelised onion, crispy guanciale and pecorino shavings.
Steaming hot Maremma acquacotta served with toasted bread, an egg and Parmesan.
Traditional meatballs in tomato sauce, just like grandma used to make.
A delicious platter with Tuscan ham, capocollo nero and caciotta cheese from Mount Amiata.
In your glass, the farm’s natural wines: whites and reds.
Drizzle every dish with La Maliosa’s organic EVO oil: the scent of freshly cut grass, with a peppery finish that delights the palate.
In winter, the fireplace is lit. In summer, the spacious outdoor seating area on the square welcomes you for a refreshing break in the cool air.
Open every day except Sunday, from 11 am to 10 pm: so yes, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, aperitifs and dinner, but remember to book ahead 😉
Outdoor activities and experiences
E-biking in Maremma, hiking in Saturnia and horse riding on the farm
La Maliosa is the perfect starting point to explore Maremma actively.
Tailored tours, routes through vineyards and woodlands, and local guides who know every trail.
Set off from the farm in the morning and return at sunset with plenty of photos and stories to share.
E-bike tours: routes for everyone
Andrea and Francesca, certified guides, will lead you on an e-bike ride through the estate’s vineyards and woodlands.
They will check the bike with you, adjust the saddle, hand you your helmet, and off you go.
The mountain bike trails adapt to your level: a scenic tour through the estate’s vineyards for beginners, or singletracks in the surrounding woods for more experienced riders.
Average duration is two hours.
You will pass the Skydeck (with breathtaking views stretching as far as Giglio Island), ride through centuries-old olive groves, and reach the village of Saturnia.
Upon your return, you can enjoy a lovely farm picnic—we will tell you more about the menu later!
Horse riding in Maremma: guided excursions
Gaia runs the partner stables just a few minutes from the farm.
The excursions take place on the estate: you will pass beside the StarsBOX cabins, ford streams, and climb up to panoramic viewpoints.
Trails are also suitable for those who have never ridden before: Gaia assesses your level and chooses the right horse.
In autumn and spring, the colours of the vineyards and the mild temperatures make horse riding in Maremma even more spectacular.
Art at Fattoria La Maliosa
Eight contemporary art installations brighten your route: large red arrows set among the olive trees and Mediterranean scrub. As you walk, you will come across Big Bench no. 235, nestled beneath a centuries-old oak tree.
The Big Benches are giant benches where you can take unique photos, but above all, they are a project that invites you to slow down and embrace more sustainable tourism. These are oversized artistic installations, part of the Big Bench Community Project (BBCP) created by Chris Bangle.
At the Big Bench, as well as on the panoramic vineyard Skydeck, you can book a picnic. No crowds, no tourist signs: just you and the landscape, among holm oaks, broom, vineyards and centuries-old olive trees.
Ideal before a hike or at sunset, after an e-bike tour.
Organic picnics among vineyards and olive groves: savour the farm's delicacies
Feeling hungry after your e-bike tour or hike? Then stop for an outdoor picnic!
The farm prepares the basket for you: a tablecloth, cutlery, glasses, and everything you need for a carefree outdoor snack.
Inside, you will find the locally sourced flavours of Maremma. A platter of local cured meats and cheeses (or a vegetarian alternative on request), bread, and Tuscan schiaccia flatbread to break with your hands.
Fresh fruit and artisan biscuits for a sweet finish.
To dress your food, there is La Maliosa’s organic EVO oil: pure and unaltered, from fruit to bottle.
To drink? La Maliosa’s natural wines, of course. Cheers!
Regenerative agriculture
A family story
The Corino Method: regenerative agriculture at the core of La Maliosa
Regenerative agriculture goes beyond organic: it aims to actively preserve the ecosystem.
At La Maliosa, this approach has a name and a patent: the Corino MethodTM, patented by Antonella Manuli and Lorenzo Corino, which forms the basis of the farm’s wine and olive oil production.
Natural wines and organic EVO oil, spontaneous fermentations, zero additives and no added sulphites. The core principle is soil vitality.
However, results must also be measured, and at La Maliosa, they do so meticulously.
In fact, scientific studies have shown that the estate’s ecosystem absorbs more CO2 than it emits: 170 hectares operating as a green lung in the heart of Maremma.
Since 2023, biodiversity has been monitored using 3Bee technology as well: four sensors detect the activity of pollinating insects, providing a quantitative index of biodiversity and the health of the land.
It all stems from the importance of preserving and enriching natural environments through farming. La Maliosa proves that it is both possible and necessary to do this in connection with the nature that hosts us, in perfect balance.
An abandoned vineyard is reborn thanks to the vision of Antonella Manuli, a courageous entrepreneur
In 2010, Antonella Manuli, a Milanese with a deep-seated love for the Tuscan Maremma, found an abandoned vineyard.
Seven thousand square metres, unknown varieties, untouched for decades—since the 1970s, to be precise. She bought it, seeing all its potential.
“I didn’t even know what was planted there. I later discovered they were historic Maremma grape varieties, almost extinct.”
Today, that Vigna Madre vineyard is 60 years old and thriving. Surrounded by olive trees, Mediterranean scrub, holm oak woodlands and streams, it sits beautifully between Saturnia, Manciano and Pitigliano.
The soil tells the geological history of the area: volcanic in Pitigliano, clayey and filled with marine shells in Saturnia.
“You find them underground, a vivid reminder that millions of years ago, this place was covered by the sea,” Antonella reveals.
“Embracing nature,” Asia says, “is not just a slogan for us, but a company mantra reflected in every aspect of our business—from guest hospitality to production, and our relationship with the land and its people.”
Fun fact: the farm’s current reception room is located in what used to be an old primary school—a small Tuscan farmhouse that now welcomes visitors instead of students.
And it leaves us with a beautiful message.
Here, you truly learn to slow down, rediscovering that healthy curiosity and desire to explore the world that we all had as children.
