The Agriturismo Pian di Fiume is located in the namesake village from the 1500s, in the province of Lucca. It has been restored according to the principles of bioarchitecture while preserving the tradition of medieval craftsmanship.
Massimo Betti, the owner of the farmhouse, is a pharmacist and nature enthusiast with expertise and experience in fields such as homeopathy, the study of medicinal plants, functional medicine, and cosmetic chemistry.
In a chat with him, Massimo shared that “he had always frequented Pian di Fiume, until the village dwindled to only 4 inhabitants before becoming completely deserted.” Massimo explains that “he always cared deeply about the village, deciding to bring it back to life with passion and sacrifice.”
He also recounts “restoring it to self-sufficiency through the installation of phytoremediation systems, solar and photovoltaic panels, wood-burning boilers, arable land, and farm animals,” all while preserving and enhancing the tradition of craftsmanship and local products.
